Smith Magazine, Six-Word Memoirs

Katherine Sarnie
Six-Word Memoirs

I found the article Six-Word Memoirs very interesting because it was different from all the other articles I have read this semester in numerous ways. This article was about a online magazine that focuses on personal story telling and challenged writers to write a six-word story describing something that is going on in their life.

Some six-word memoirs that I found most powerful were "Just in; boyfriends gay. Merry Christmas" "Still trying to impress my dad" and "Thank God the suicide attempt failed". I found these short memoirs interesting because they were short and to the point. I liked reading them because they were different but in a good way. This article kept me intrigued and made me think of all the different ways for writers to get their points across. Writing does not have to be boring and bland and this article keeps the reader interested and shows different styles of writing.
