Practice Observation
For my practice observation I watched the women in a nail salon when I got my nails done this weekend. The first observation I made was that mostly all of the women were the same, they were all stereotypically suburban mothers. Mostly all of them had fake colored hair and drove big sized cars. I also thought it was interesting that mostly all of the women in the nail salon and had no problem gossiping about Walpole town drama.
A lot of the women talked about their children and which sports they participated in. Also many of the women had fake lone acrylic nails that they wanted to get "filled" and receive a French Manicure. I enjoyed observing the women in the nail salon because it was so interesting to listen to them and how they were so involved in the town and sports and all of them had to make sure that their appearance was perfect. I think the nail salon was a good place for my practice observation because there was a sense of community there, the women all knew each other, they all gossiped and shared the common interest of perfecting their appearance.

Jon Stewart, Commencement Address

Jon Stewart, Commencement Address
I enjoyed reading the article Jon Stewart, Commencement Address because I think we as college students can find a lot of insight from this article. After reading the article I began to wonder what is going to happen to a lot of college students after they graduate. Will the find a god job or be suffocated by debt and student loans? This article was really eye opening because it was blunt, Jon Stewart has no problem saying it how it is.
I found it most surprising that Jon Stewart states that when he went to college, he was nothing special. He states he was "less than five feet tall, yet my head was the same size it is now. Didn't really look like a head, it looked more like a container for a head". (Stewart 127). He then states how he lives in Hollywood as a star who goes to brunch with the cast of Friends. Jon Stewart basically says that we have the ability to be whoever we want to be. What we do in college does not define us, its who we are after college and what paths we decide to travel is what shapes us.
Jon Stewart's commencement address was convincing because it made me think about what will happen after college. I liked the way he basically said that we can be whoever we want to be and I agree with him when he says that college does not define us. I also agree with Jon Stewart when he states that we are all going to be OK in the end.

I decided to do my digital collage about my family and friends because they both mean a lot to me and have been there for as long as I can remember. On the top I included to quote "Family is like fudge; mostly sweet with a few nuts" because I think everyone can agree that every family is somewhat crazy but in a good way. I included pictures of my parents because they have helped me in countless ways and I would not be where I am today if it were not for them. I then included pictures of my sibling and my cousins because I am extremely close to my cousins that they are pretty much like my siblings and also my best friends. I then decided to include my friends in my digital collage because I also consider them my family. I would consider my girl friends not just my best friends but also my sisters. I used different shades of blue because blue has always been my favorite color but I tried to make sure it was a happy upbeat blue not a sad and gloomy blue. I decided to use the pink colors as the background to make the pictures stand out and to my my collage vibrant and happy. I do not know what my life would be like today if it were not for my family and friends. I am happy with the way I incorporated my friends in my collage to show that they are also my family.
