Mrigaa Sethi, Facebook: Editing Myself

After reading the article Mrigaa Sethi, Facebook: Editing Myself I found it very interesting that people often do not realize how easy it is to alter our appearance on social medias. I know of countless people that only post pictures of themselves that they look their absolute best in. By doing so they are giving a false representation of what they really look like and who they really are. I found it very surprising that Mrigaa Sethi could get away with pulling off a false representation of herself because today you can pretty much find anyone you want to on the internet.

Also after reading this article it reminded me of the hit TV show "Catfish". In this show, people will fall in love with someone through the internet but the person they think they fell in love with are usually completely different from what they made themselves out to be. Nowadays it is so easy to create a fake profile that it surprises me that people think they can find love through the internet. Whether you want to admit it or not, we have all tried to make ourselves look good when posting things on social networks. I agree with Mrigaa Sethi when she argues that online profiles are highly edited and a bad representation of someones identity. I think that a lot of people find themselves changing who they are on social networks to escape the stresses of everyday. I think that people who do not do well in social situations, use the internet as a way to be social without actually having to face people.
